How Far Is the Sun?
Alexander asked which is farther: heaven to earth, or east to west. The Elders said east to west is farther, since people can look at the sun in the east or west but not when it is high in the sky. The Sages disagreed, saying both distances are equal, based on a verse from Psalms.

Alexander asked the Elders who is called wise, mighty, and rich. They answered: the wise person sees what will happen next, the mighty person conquers his own desire, and the rich person is happy with his share.

The Eyeball That Never Fills
At the gate of the Garden of Eden, Alexander was given one eyeball. It outweighed all his gold and silver on a scale. The Sages explained that a person's eye is never satisfied, but covering it with a little dirt balanced the scale.
